The Archangel 8 Chess Academy 2025- 2026 scholars
The Archangel 8 Chess Academy would like to present and have the Buffalo and Masten district community congratulate our 2025- 2026 scholars. After 27 years, chess students continue to improve their reading and academics, while learning to play chess.

Pictured are Kamai Hutson teaches Mom, a Waste Management employee, how to play chess at Barnes and Noble. Kamai achieved the "KOALO" award for his quality of work submitted during the school year. Kamai loves World Cup soccer and Champions League European soccer play.
Roderick Moppins has achieved not only academics but has excelled at tournament chess play. Pictured is Roderick winning Top Scholastic player at the 2026 Mattew Parry Tournament in Rochester NY. Recently in June, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Juneteenth, Roderick won Top Male winner at the Dr. Opal Lee Quad Tournament held at Barnes and Noble - Amherst store on Niagara Falls Blvd. Roderick was also awarded the Future Inventor award.
