More Than 100 Buffalo Youth to Tee Off at Free PAL Golf Camp Days After City's Violent July 4th Weekend

WHO: Police Athletic League of Buffalo (Buffalo PAL) Executive Director Nekia Kemp, First Tee WNY Representatives and golf instructors, Buffalo Police, Buffalo PAL youth.

WHAT: Buffalo PAL invites members of the media to attend the opening day of Buffalo PAL's Learn to Play Golf Summer Camp, a free, four-week clinic introducing youth ages 5 to 17 to golf. More than 100 youth will gather at Delaware Park to meet their fellow campers and coaches as they take their first swings and build confidence, discipline, and relationships with local law enforcement. Parents and families are encouraged to sign their youth up for the golf program, which runs Mondays, July 13, 20, 27, and August 3, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Delaware Park.

 WHY: Buffalo is still processing the July 4th holiday weekend, in which six shootings connected to an illegal East Delavan-Grider street takeover left 11 people, ages 13 to 51, wounded. Buffalo PAL has spent 75 years building the structured, mentor-driven programming that communities look to as part of the long-term answer. Golf teaches patience, focus, integrity, and respect, qualities Buffalo PAL leadership says extend well beyond the course. Parents are encouraged to register their children for Buffalo PAL's free summer programs while space remains available.
