Jordan Walker baseball right fielder of the St. Louis Cardinals made history by becoming the first Cardinals player ever to win the T-Mobile Home Run Derby. This year's Derby was held at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia and was streamed live on Netflix for the first time.

The batting line up featured eight contestants:

Every swing counted toward a player's total, regardless of whether it resulted in a home run. However, if a player hit a home run on the final swing of a round, they earned bonus swings until they failed to hit another home run.

The four players with the highest first-round home run totals advanced to the semifinals. Those players were then seeded based on their first-round totals and competed in head-to-head matchups (#1 vs. #4 and #2 vs. #3) to determine the finalists.

‍According to MLB.com Will Leitch and his 2026 Home Run Derby Power Rankings, Jordan Walker entered the competition ranked No. 5, while Kyle Schwarber was ranked No. 1.

‍Walker and Schwarber advanced to the championship round. Schwarber hit 11 home runs, but Walker captured the title with 12, becoming the 2026 Home Run Derby champion.

‍Many online reactions suggested Schwarber was the fan favorite because the event was held in Philadelphia, home of the Phillies.

Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 250 pounds, Jordan Walker was born on May 22, 2002, in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He made his Major League debut with the Cardinals at age 20.

‍Walker credits much of his success to the unwavering support of his family. His father, Derek Walker, is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and his mother, Katrina M. Walker, earned her master's degree from Washington University. Both parents were in attendance, proudly cheering him on throughout the Home Run Derby.

‍Following the Derby, Walker was joined during his postgame interview by his parents, grandmother, and sister. The family expressed how proud they were of his accomplishment, joining Barry Bonds (Home Run Derby Champion), Albert Pujols, and Anthony Rizzo.

‍Despite the loud boos from many Phillies fans, the Walker family remained composed and proud. Jordan Walker responded to the crowd with grace, saying:

‍Walker earned the Derby's $1 million grand prize—more than his reported 2026 salary of $799,400.
