Patriots Rally Past Bills in Dramatic AFC East Showdown
The New England Patriots delivered a stunning comeback Sunday afternoon, defeating the Buffalo Bills 29–26 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York. The victory gave New England its second win of the 2026 season while handing Buffalo its first loss, dropping the Bills to 3–1.
The Patriots came out aggressively, building an early lead behind quarterback Drake Maye, who finished with 269 passing yards and three touchdowns. Buffalo responded with a strong second quarter, scoring 17 points and taking a 17–14 halftime advantage.
The game remained tightly contested throughout the second half. Buffalo appeared to seize control late in the fourth quarter when Josh Allen connected with Keon Coleman for a 34-yard touchdown, putting the Bills ahead 26–21 with just over four minutes remaining.
New England answered with its defining drive. With less than two minutes left, Maye found Efton Chism III for a 23-yard touchdown, cutting through Buffalo's defense and giving the Patriots a 27–26 lead. New England then successfully converted the two-point attempt, extending the advantage to three points.
Buffalo had one final opportunity, but Patriots defensive back Craig Woodson intercepted Allen's final pass attempt, ending the comeback bid and securing New England's dramatic road victory.
For Buffalo, Allen finished with 253 passing yards and one touchdown, while Coleman turned in a standout performance with 116 receiving yards and a touchdown. The loss was particularly significant because it marked the Bills' first defeat in their new stadium.
The Patriots' victory gives the AFC East an early-season shake-up, while Buffalo will look to regroup after surrendering a late lead on its home field.
